No tolerance for drugs
THE ready availability of drugs and the havoc they cause in every town and village of the country is something that is a cause for genuine concern. Most of the victims of drugs are unknown to us; the loss of their lives is generally a private matter for their families.
But when evidence is delivered that directly connects the death of one of the country's best known people with the taking of an illegal drug, one has to ask, does the matter not merit criminal investigation?
Families all over Ireland have been irrevocably scarred by the corrosive impact of organised crime. And the Garda Siochana uses all its resources to fight the problem. Nonetheless the scourge of illegal drug use is even more pervasive and more devastating than ever.
