No justice for Michaela

Yesterday's "not guilty" verdicts by a Mauritius jury in the trial of the two men accused of the murder of Co Tyrone woman Michaela McAreavey will have come as a bitter disappointment to her family and friends.

Having already endured the shock and trauma of Michaela's murder while on honeymoon on the Indian Ocean island in January 2011, they will now have to suffer the pain of knowing that her murderers, whoever they might be, will almost certainly never be brought to justice.

Unfortunately the jury's verdict didn't come as any surprise to those who followed the trial closely. Ever since proceedings began seven weeks ago it was clear that there were serious flaws in the prosecution case.
