The 'do-nothing Dáil' didn't achieve an awful lot by the time it broke up for the summer, but it managed to make a considerable amount of noise while doing it.

A lot of hot air was certainly produced around a piece of legislation that was never even going to pass.

Transport Minister Shane Ross had the support of the Cabinet and the ministers in the main party in Government for his proposals to cut the drink-driving limits.
