Litany of waste repeated
YEAR after year we are served up with a litany of waste by government departments and their agencies that stirs our anger, suspends our disbelief and briefly stiffens our resolve to end this madness.
But, year after year, the anger subsides and we slowly push on with our daily lives and concerns, noting as we do how money is wasted at local and national level.
Then another spate of waste is highlighted by the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), and the cycle turns all over again. Yes, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will in due course exert huge amounts of energy, extract some answers, raise some serious questions and put those who are responsible for spending taxpayers' money on the spot.
