Kenny has reached point of no return
EVENTS in Dail Eireann last night certainly lived up to their dramatic billing. Four Fine Gael TDs voted against the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Bill and automatically excluded themselves from parliamentary party membership, also raising questions about their potential candidature in forthcoming elections.
Thirteen of Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin's 19 TDs took a different stance to that of their party leader and voted against the legislation. It continued a difficult week for the FF leader, with a fall in opinion polls, and the emergence of tricky questions on banking about previous governments in which he was a senior member.
Sinn Fein's Peadar Toibin obliged his party leadership to invoke sanctions against him by voting against his party's agreed position.
