Insolvency service isn't perfect but it will help

THE Personal Insolvency Service will not be a panacea for all our consumer financial ills. The new service has been in the news all week over guidelines it is set to issue on what is acceptable for those seeking to enter into an arrangement with their banks that will see some debts written off.

A number of groups and politicians have taken offence at one aspect of the guidelines that comes down hard on couples where both work, but one of the salaries is not covering the cost of the childcare.

This has been characterised as anti-women, on the basis that most women earn less than men.
