Getting down to real business -- but key battles still lie ahead

ONE might have expected Taoiseach Enda Kenny to have felt about as welcome as Banquo's ghost at the EU summit in Brussels yesterday.





Considering the battering our country's reputation has taken, and the fact that our banking collapse and bailout have put the frighteners on the 27-member zone, a chilly reception could have been anticipated.

But Mr Kenny had no choice but to fight his corner. He was quick to insist that the strong mandate from the Irish people to improve the EU-IMF deal must be recognised.
