FF leader's support for PAC chief hard to fathom
PRESSURE mounted last night for Public Accounts Committee chairman John McGuinness to resign. As the Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, delivered scathing remarks about Mr McGuinness's comments and conduct, the focus moved to Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin, who continued to defend his party colleague.
Mr Kenny's remarks are unparalleled in the modern era. The Taoiseach spoke of apparent arrogance and the need for the PAC chairman to be above the merest hint of suspicion.
"This is the Public Accounts Committee, it is a matter of credibility in respect of politics and accountability," he said.
