Fate is in our own hands
WHEN the deluge came, Noah built an ark. It seemed the notion of a bailout never occurred to him. With the country facing its worst economic crisis since the foundation of the State, and at a time of grave political instability, we have two choices.
One is that we place our fate in the hands of others and depend on the kindness of strangers. The other is that we do everything possible to save ourselves. The bailout card cannot be played exhaustively.
It must also be recognised that the financial firestorm that is spreading throughout the eurozone was not started by Ireland; but we are burning none the less.
