Editorial: Time to clean up our act, and to do it fairly

IT NOW seems like something from another lifetime.

But barely two decades ago, many senior policymakers and political leaders were frankly voicing their despair at the Irish people's lack of willingness to engage with recycling and deal responsibly with waste.

But over the intervening 20 years, segregating our rubbish, using a compost bin and availing of all kinds of recycling options have become second nature to the vast bulk of Irish people.
