Editorial: Return to normality pushes us further apart
SOMETHING rather strange and wonderful is happening; we are slowly returning to normal. That's good news when it comes to the economy. There are green shoots now in many parts of the country while sometimes gloomy organisations such as the Economic and Social Research Institute are also coming round to the idea that we are in recovery mode.
It is impossible not to welcome this news, but side-by-side with this recovery there are some disquieting signs that the country is returning to normal in ways that are not so wholesome.
Somewhere along the way, we are losing the sense we had a few years ago that we were all in this together.
