Drivers forced to grit their teeth
EVERY time snow and ice descend on us, the country slips into abject, dysfunctional chaos. As if we didn't have enough national emergencies to contend with, the inability of local and central government to deal with slightly sub-zero temperatures is nothing short of scandalous.
It beggars belief that, yet again, the responsible authorities are unable to grit busy main roads and even motorways. Predictably, lack of funding is being blamed.
We are asked to believe that icy roads and dangerous city footpaths are a symptom of the recession.
