Come on the Boys in Green!

Tomorrow the Irish team play their opening game in the European Championship when they take on Croatia. This will be the first time that an Irish team has appeared in the final stages of a major international tournament for a decade.

Unlike the last occasion, when we qualified for the final stages of the 2002 World Cup, the now infamous "Battle of Saipan", which saw then manager Mick McCarthy eject his skipper Roy Keane from the Irish squad, the preparations have gone smoothly this time around.

Apart from the inevitable disappointment of those players who failed to make the final cut, all has been sweetness and light from the Irish camp.
