A great role model for entrepreneurs
Heather Reynolds, Brian Barry and Colm Tracey set up a smartphone company called Eishtec in May 2011. They took on nine employees. Now they plan to employ 250 people in a state-of-the-art facility in Drinagh, Co Wexford.
The background to these events is intriguing. It is also an immensely positive and hopeful sign for the future of Irish industry and Irish entrepreneurship.
Not very long ago, the closure of a large business in a jobs-starved region like the south-east would have induced a combination of gloom and agitation. The agitation would usually have taken place without any great hope of remedy, and would have consisted largely of calls for state intervention.
