The days when the travelling GAA fans stayed with the neighbours and relations are back. There are more mattresses on floors than in the time of the Troubles. Tall men’s long legs hang off the end of sofas. Camp beds have been requisitioned from army surplus stores.

Husbands who were banished to the spare room fadó, fadó are back in the marital bed so as not to give away when the neighbours come to stay for the big game. Partners who refused to meet under a circus tent are now back under the same duvet. Maybe they get to say “sure, as we’re here, we might as well”.
