Theresa finds handholding can turn to hand-wringing

The last time I had a special relationship with another person we did, I confess, hold hands. It is what special friends do to show their affection and is moreover tolerated in public, even by puritanical bystanders.

I recall vividly that the hands were not small; they were warm and friendly, closing over my fingers in a comfortable fashion.
