The issue of housing and homelessness is the most pressing social and economic issue presently facing our country.

Homelessness continues to challenge us. Since the publication of Rebuilding Ireland - the Government's housing and homelessness plan - a huge amount of work and resources have been expended to meet the targets set by the Government in its action plan.

Last year, over 18,300 social housing supports were provided across a range of means - from over 5,280 new social houses being purchased, leased and built, to the extensive supports provided under the Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) and Rental Accommodation Scheme (RAS).
