Minority religious groups need school ethos protected

Admissions to primary schools is an issue that many people care deeply about - and rightly so.

We all want our children and grandchildren to get the best possible opportunities in life, and getting them into a school where they will enjoy learning, where they will make friends, and where they will be challenged is a really important part of that.

Most people are aware that current laws allow religious primary schools, which amount to 96pc of the 3,100 primary schools, to use religion as a factor in deciding who gets in and who doesn't get in to the school, if the school is oversubscribed.
