Lay of the Land: A rocky road caper reveals kindness of strangers
The winding boreen should be approached with care by motorists
Fiona O'Connell
It’s a long road that has no turning, though it might take a few twists before that old Irish proverb proves to be true. So I was to discover on a recent visit to west Waterford, when I decided to check out a house for sale on the banks of the Blackwater river. A man that I met on the road who lived nearby advised us to drive instead of walk down the boreen. He was right that the road was long but I was to find out that not all his information was up to date.
