IT WAS bound to happen. When Environment Minister Phil Hogan tried to bask in the glory of Kilkenny’s All-Ireland hurling victory last night he was roundly booed in front of 20,000 fans.

When will politicians ever learn? Politics and sport simply don’t mix.

They fervently hope that a little stardust will rub off on them as a winning team is feted in front of the TV cameras and a big crowd.
