IT’S time for couch potatoes to finally stand up and take notice. New research has shown that every hour spent watching TV could be taking 22 minutes off our lives.

As Ben Frow steps down as TV3’s director of programming, critics might commend him for an outstanding humanitarian act.

Australian researchers from the National Bureau of Statistics have found that watching television could be shortening the average life by five years.
