Hillary's meticulous homework looks set to pay off as Trump runs out of steam

You have to hand it to Hillary Clinton. She's all about preparation. For years prior to entering the 2016 race, Mrs Clinton carefully prepared the political ground.

She prepared well for the recent presidential debates and came out on top. Now, as the clock runs out on the toughest and nastiest US election of recent times, Clinton is preparing to take over as president.

Her West Wing transition team is up and running. Lists of potential cabinet appointees are being scrutinised. Instead of responding to Donald Trump's daily claims, Clinton's campaign is diverting both time and money to elect more Democrats to Capitol Hill. To get anything done, a Democratic president needs a Democratic congress.
