Greedy landlords prevent families from creating a home

The Government is relying on the private rental sector to solve the housing crisis. This is unworkable as most Irish landlords are small time amateurs who have a short-term view of the business.

The number of tenants failing to vacate their home at the end of their lease increased by 50pc last year, according to figures just released by the Residential Tenancies Board, (RTB).

Clearly the reason for this, for the most part, is that the tenant cannot find alternative accommodation at short notice. There is a major ongoing housing crisis in this country.
