Now the ham-fisted heave against Micheál Martin has been abandoned, does the Taoiseach get a standing ovation at the next meeting of Fianna Fáil TDs and senators? Does someone stand up at the parliamentary party and apologise on behalf of those who sought to undermine him for the past 21 months, while he led the country through a global crisis?

Does a seconder say they will now weigh in behind him for the remainder of his time in Government Buildings and then stand back to let him decide what he wants to do about the leadership?
