Fearless Mary Lindsay has better right to be a feminist icon than Markievicz

Mary Lindsay, who was shot by the IRA 100 years ago last month, has as much right, and in my view even more right, to be an Irish feminist icon than Constance Markievicz.

That's because Mary Lindsay lost her life as a result of trying to save the lives of others, whereas the bloodthirsty Markievicz reputedly shot the unarmed Constable James Lahiff, of the Dublin Metropolitan Police, at St Stephen’s Green in 1916.
