Announcing himself on the world stage: it's Leo, actually...

It's almost as if he expected Martine McCutcheon to come walking in with her tea trolley.

An excitable Taoiseach Leo Varadkar could barely contain his enthusiasm as he stepped across the threshold of 10 Downing Street, and his "thrill" as he encountered the same staircase where Hugh Grant's prime minister danced to Girls Aloud's cover of 'Jump' in 2004 film 'Love Actually'.

He can hardly be blamed for being somewhat overawed by his first experience of Downing Street just days into his new role as Taoiseach - but perhaps he could have kept his geek-out moment to himself.
