The good old days are over for everybody else
THE ESB pension dispute rumbles on with no clear sign of agreement, even if the unions have left the door open for some sort of resolution in the days ahead.
At times, all the talks can appear like an arcane argument about accounting practices but the stakes are big for both the ESB workers and the country, which could yet see a crippling strike that would leave consumer confidence on the floor just as the economy is picking up steam.
When all the accounting talk is stripped away, the core of the argument is quite simple. The ESB workers want certainty over the fate of their pensions.
