Shane Ross: Trade unionists skip a third of pension board meetings

TRADE union representatives on the Irish Pensions Board have the worst attendance record of the directors.

The two board members, who are paid €8,400 each for the part-time position, only managed to turn up at six out of nine of last year's board meetings at the body that safeguards much of the nation's savings.

Fergus Whelan and Rosheen Callender are nominated by the Irish Congress of Trades Unions and are directors by virtue of being social partners.
