There's a certain poetic justice that all that stands between Enda Kenny and his apparent desire to have a quick post-Christmas election campaign is the Banking Inquiry.

Mr Kenny is probably the most politically partisan Taoiseach since Charlie Haughey.

Never has that been more obvious than when he insisted on stacking the deck to ensure a government majority on the Banking Inquiry.
