Off The Ball: Portlaoise determined to put Dubs hoodoo to bed

Colm Parkinson, Ger Gilroy, Donny Mahoney, Diarmuid Lyng

The bookies don't often get it wrong, but the odds for the Leinster club SFC final seem a little skewed to me. You will get Portlaoise at a favourable 15/8 to beat St Vincent's, who are 8/15.

Portlaoise will be highly motivated to win this one. Since beating Kilmacud Crokes in 2004, under the excellent management team of Tommy Conroy (not to be confused with the current Vincent's manager) and Niall Tully, they haven't beaten the Dublin champions, losing four times in succession.

In fact, since 'the Town' beat Crossmaglen in 2004 to reach the All-Ireland club final, the best team they have beaten is Garrycastle. This does not sit well with the Portlaoise players and they are aware of the statistic.
