Eusebio only played in one World Cup. It is more than plenty of great players, but a pity nonetheless, not least because 1966 showcased how his talents could electrify the grandest of stages.

He thrilled Merseyside and Goodison Park in particular that June, with two astonishing displays. His two goals against Brazil in the group stages secured a 3-1 win.

Then, in front of a wedged-in 66,000 people, Portugal came back from 3-0 down at half-time to beat North Korea 5-3 in the quarter-final. Eusebio scored four and set up a fifth.
