Martina Devlin: We're being sacrificed to the great god of bureaucracy with tax deadline fiasco

They look the same as us. But they don't think the same as us. They are the inhabitants of a kingdom called Officialdom, and their reasoning is guided by a rigid belief system. It's called bureaucracy.

Bureaucrats have a unique world view. Efficiency at all costs scores high on their list, for example.

Neither fairness nor customer relations concern them unduly, while the concept of an overview simply doesn't compute.
