John Drennan: RTE faces fresh probe as Norris prepares to sue
Senator to allege libel as outside expert scrutinises broadcaster for evidence of bias in current affairs
RTE's front-line current affairs programmes will be scrutinised for evidence of bias by an outside expert or agency as the embattled national broadcaster faces further pressure in the wake of the Fr Kevin Reynolds fiasco.
And the Sunday Independent has also learnt that RTE is facing yet another high profile defamation case -- this time taken by defeated presidential candidate, Senator David Norris.
In the wake of its public investigation, the Oireachtas Committee on Communications investigating the Mission to Prey debacle has sent correspondence to Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte, recommending that "there should be regular audits of RTE's top current affairs programmes to monitor them for signs of bias".
