John Drennan: Massive stimulus programme to be announced in major jobs drive
Extra €2bn for infrastructure follows 'series of blazing rows' between Howlin and the troika
Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Brendan Howlin will announce a multibillion-euro stimulus programme for the economy this week, the Sunday Independent has learned.
It comes in the wake of the banking deal at an EU summit and the introduction of the Insolvency Bill.
Ministers are remaining tight-lipped about what will be seen a major coup but one top-level source told this newspaper it would be "a multibillion-euro package involving an initial additional €2bn investment in infrastructural projects".
