John Drennan: Creighton warns of cash-flight risk
'We'll have to go round with a begging bowl if we reject treaty'
Ireland will be reduced to going around Europe with a "begging bowl" if the people vote 'No' in the fiscal compact referendum, the Minister for European Affairs, Lucinda Creighton, has warned.
In a searing attack on the 'No' campaign, she criticised the simplistic claims that "someone will lend us the €36bn we will need in 2014 and 2015 to fund our public services if we cannot return to the bond markets''.
Describing the Sinn Fein- led campaign as "stab-in-the-dark economic policies", she said its policy "would reduce us to going around Europe with a begging bowl".
