Legacy bank debt could dent Enda's hope of five more years

'YOU may not be interested in war. But war is interested in you." This quote credited, perhaps wrongly, to the ill-fated Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky, came to mind yesterday as the Taoiseach told us he is not interested in an EU job – but he is interested in another term in government.

Mr Kenny may not be interested in working for the EU – but his chances of winning the next election depend so much upon what happens in the EU.

Furthermore, the Taoiseach's assertion at the Davos World Economic Forum that he wants another five-year term after this one runs out in early 2016, begs a simple question: why should voters give it to him?
