Last year taught us to expect the unexpected in 2017
On this day 12 months ago I was only vaguely aware that Theresa May was the 'Minister for Something or Other' in Britain. And I was sure David Cameron was set fair to become one of that country's longest-serving prime ministers.
Granted, in early January 2016, it looked like the Brexit referendum would give us a bit of a fright. But in the end common sense would prevail and on the night of June 23/24 all would ultimately work out all right.
In the USA, Donald Trump's latest outrage often provided a really good laugh. But surely Hillary Clinton would, probably largely by default, become President of the US?
