Have you ever tried to explain Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael to a foreigner?

The very few times I was foolhardy enough to try that one, I realised precisely how and why it was all about the non-difference between Tweedledum and Tweedledee. Yes, there are questions of emphasis, reinforced by cultural tendencies - but not much substantive difference.

For better or worse, we are talking about two very similar catch-all political organisations, whose principals and members are in the business of staying in business. After the February 2011 general election, we were told its outcome was "revolutionary".
