Gilmore and Labour badly need a very public victory
THERE is a big and challenging week ahead for Eamon Gilmore. The Labour leader and Tanaiste is a man under pressure fighting for his job and the very existence of the party he leads. So, this week's Cabinet meeting will tell a lot about both struggles.
The deadline for a Cabinet decision on a referendum for same-sex marriage is now at hand and it must be made by tomorrow.
Labour wants a referendum late next year, or early 2015 at the latest.
