'Boxer' quickly on the scene -but Murphy in eye of the storm

There is only one Kevin 'Boxer' Moran. The hours, which often turn to days, he has spent fighting to help people stricken by floods give him a special place for the foreseeable future.

For other Irish politicians, bad weather can be extremely testing, and their response to it can cost them valuable support and do reputational damage which can be hard to remedy.

The surprise depredations of Storm Eleanor, especially the flooding in the heart of Galway city, have been a jolt to the system. As if the continuing housing crisis was not enough, now Eoghan Murphy is the man in the eye of the storm.
