Work four hours a day? Where do I sign up?
One of the great indulgences of the so-called 'boom years' was all the money spent by quangos urging us to be more 'mindful' and telling us to carefully monitor our work-life balance.
It was fatuous nonsense, of course, particularly when you recall that the crash brought in such a time of genuine fear and uncertainty that the only thing most people were mindful of was staying in work so they could afford to have a life. That's the sort of work-life balance most people in this country have to cope with.
Now Alex Soojung-Kim Pang (above), a former silicon valley consultant turned lifestyle guru, has come up with a similar sounding idea - limit your working day to a mere four hours.
