Well, let's not get carried away . . .
The news that there was a spike in racist graffiti in some Dublin areas over the bank holiday weekend is, it should go without saying, disgraceful.
But we need to be careful before we try to make out that this country is a roiling cesspit of racial tensions – it's not, but it could be, so awareness rather than hysteria should be the order of the day.
For example, the graffiti on the Anglo headquarters in the Docklands which read: "Zionists engineered global financial crisis" was more stupid than anything else – Zionism is a political ideology, not a religion.
