Okay -- maybe a slight exaggeration?
When I was growing up, it seemed like every neighbour would snitch on you if they caught you doing something you shouldn't be doing.
And let's face it, doing something you shouldn't is why teenage boys exist in the first place.
But as I left home and lived in different apartments, the sense of neighbourhood, indeed of community, was conspicuously absent, which I found a bit of a shame. But I suppose you should be careful what you wish for.
