So, here's the question -- would you rather be thick or clever? That's the rather bizarre question which has been doing the rounds here and in Britain for the last week following the unusual juxtaposition of Jade Goody and Gail Trimble, the woman who virtually single-handedly captured the coveted University Challenge title for her college, Corpus Christi Oxford.

On the one hand, we have Goody, a former hate figure for many who has now become beloved by many more because of the way she is dealing with her cancer -- one journalist actually likened her to the "new Princess Diana" the other day.

On the other hand we have brainbox Trimble, who has been attacked as "a horse-faced bitch", "insufferable snob" and "annoying know-it-all" -- simply because she happens to be bloody brilliant at quizzes.
