Ian O'Doherty: Wow. What a nice guy

Let's get a few things straight -- Amy Winehouse's untimely but not surprising death is deeply, deeply, sad.

She had a voice that could shake you to your core and when she was on form -- which seems quite some time ago, in fairness -- she was undeniably brilliant. But to see people calling her death a 'tragedy' shows just how meaningless certain words have become.

Did she have cancer? That would have been tragic. Was she run down by a bus? Did something utterly unforeseen befall her at a time when she should have been enjoying her success, her talent and her life? These would have been tragedies.
