Ian O'Doherty: How very dare he . . .

When Glee first came along, I approached it with something I would describe as dread.

I'd been assigned to watch the first episode of the brand new American TV sensation and I wasn't optimistic about its prospects.

After all, the American High School genre, while being a perennial inspiration for scriptwriters, has been done to death over the last few years.
