Ian O'Doherty: Controversial I know - can we stop killing horses?
It's the story that shocked the country. After all, this was a case of what could only be described as murder -- a frightened horse beaten to death by a gang of men (in the loosest use of the word) in front of its own foal and in the full view of horrified local residents -- many of whom were reluctant to talk for fear of reprisals from the individuals responsible. Funny that.
Of course, as things stand, there is no real public revulsion. There have been no mass meetings where people declare that enough is enough.
This is Ireland, we do things differently here. And by differently, I mean we do nothing. Nothing at all.
