The Army, ATMs and some pre-electionitis from a wayward Enda

It's been a funny old week for the Government. Well not exactly funny - dangerous might be a more accurate word to use.

In just a matter of days, the Coalition parties suddenly seem jumpy and nervous. And there is a feeling some heavy hitters might be losing their touch. It's all of course to do with the most recent post-budget opinion poll. The bottom line is that it shows Fine Gael sailing on steadily, but with Labour TDs finding themselves adrift, in increasingly choppy seas.

It might explain why Labour's tough guy, Environment Minister Alan Kelly, seems to be going around looking for a Conor McGregor-style political bust-up on the issue of rent control. And some of his erstwhile colleagues in the Fine Gael party are in his line of fire.
