Minister is not for turning on €3.1bn cuts

FINANCE Minister Michael Noonan has indicated to cabinet colleagues he is personally committed to sticking to the €3.1bn package of cuts and taxes in next month's Budget.

Mr Noonan is adopting increasingly hardball tactics with the Labour Party over the Budget 2014 adjustment and maintaining discipline within Fine Gael.

Twice in the past week Mr Noonan has reined in Fine Gael ministers, including Phil Hogan, who conceded ground on the adjustment figure.
