Fionnan Sheahan: Martin: FF badly needs major surgery after poll

FIANNA Fail leadership contender Micheal Martin wants a "radical" overhaul of the party after the General Election.

In an exclusive interview with the Irish Independent, the Foreign Affairs Minister gave his clearest indication yet that he is aiming to lead the party after the election. But he also tacitly admitted Fianna Fail would need major surgery to recover from an anticipated battering at the polls.

Mr Martin set out what can be described as a leadership manifesto, pointing to the need to reform Fianna Fail's policies, its organisation and its funding.
